Privacy policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
FocusJourno (“we”, “us”) is a focus timer, journal and project app at focusjourno.app. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the website, the app and any emails we send you.
The short version
- We collect only what we need to run FocusJourno.
- Your journal, tasks and projects are private to your account. We don't read them, sell them or use them for advertising.
- There are no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics.
- You can download or delete everything at any time, from inside the app.
What we collect
Account details. Your email address, your name if you give one, and how you sign in. If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name and email address with us.
What you put into FocusJourno. Your projects, tasks and their steps and notes, your focus sessions (when they started and ended, and how long they were), your journal pages and moods, and your settings, such as timer lengths, colour theme and the day your week starts.
Subscription details. When you subscribe, your payment is handled by our payment provider, which acts as the seller of record. It collects your card details and billing address; we never see your full card number. We receive your plan, whether your subscription or trial is active, and when it renews.
Technical information. Our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic browser information to deliver pages and protect the service from abuse. We don't use this to build a profile of you.
Messages. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help you.
How we use it
- To provide FocusJourno and keep your data in sync across your devices.
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To run your subscription and free trial, including the reminder we send before a trial ends.
- To send service emails, such as confirmation links, password resets and billing notices. We don't send marketing emails unless you ask for them.
- To answer you when you contact us.
- To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping tax and accounting records.
We process your personal data with your consent, which you give when you create an account, and where the law otherwise allows it. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account. That doesn't affect anything we did lawfully before you withdrew it.
Stored on your device
FocusJourno uses your browser's storage to keep you signed in, to keep a copy of your work so the app opens quickly and works offline, and to remember your light or dark mode and colour theme. We don't use advertising cookies.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run FocusJourno, and only what each one needs:
- Supabase, which hosts our database and handles sign-in and account emails.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the website and protects it from attacks.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Our payment provider, which handles subscriptions and payments.
- An email delivery service, which sends account and billing emails.
We don't sell or rent your personal data. We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid order from a court or authority.
Where your data is stored
Our service providers may store and process data on servers outside India, for example in the United States or the European Union. We only use providers in countries to which Indian law allows personal data to be transferred.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your account and everything in it are deleted from our database straight away. Copies in our providers' backups are removed as those backups expire, usually within 30 days. Our payment provider keeps records of payments for as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- get a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct, complete or update it;
- have it erased;
- withdraw your consent;
- have your complaints answered;
- nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
You can do most of this yourself: open Account in the app to change your name, download all your data or delete your account. For anything else, email us at hello@focusjourno.app. We'll reply within 30 days at the latest. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Keeping your data safe
All connections to FocusJourno are encrypted. Each account can reach only its own data, enforced by the database itself. Passwords are stored in a scrambled form that can't be reversed. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your data, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Children
FocusJourno is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you think a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll also tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
Contact us
